My 2 1/2 hour birthstory:
Friday Mommy went to work like normal. She actually, worked late to get things set up for the Black Family Reunion event on Saturday. She left work and stopped by my Granny and Poppa Tree Top's house. Mommy always stopped by there on Friday's. Granny cooked Mommy some fried fish and cole slaw. Mommy sat around, ate and talked to them for about an hour. She then called the firestation because she still needed to get the carseat installed. The guy said he was going to be there and it was ok for her to come. She arrives about 7:30 and they are gone on a fire run. She talked to Candice a little on the phone and decided to stop by the store to see what Daddy was up to.
8:00pm
As usual when Mommy arrived get she had to go to the restroom. She goes in, starts to use it and feel a POP. Along with the pop came a sharp pain. She knew it wasn't something she'd felt before but wasn't really too concerned. She finished up and went and sat in the chair behind the register. Mommy wanted to tell Daddy about it but he was busy with customers. While sitting in the chair she could feel herself getting wet. She gets the phone and goes into the dressing room to call the doctor. While waiting for them to call back she called my Granny. Dr. Rahe then clicked in. Mommy told him that she thought her water had broken and he told her to go to the hospital to be checked.
8:10pm
When the customers were gone Mommy goes back up front to tell Daddy everything. He asked her how did she feel. She told him that she felt fine and that she didn't have any pain. Little did Mommy know I was ready to make my debut. Daddy was always trying to make some money so he asked if we wait until 9:00pm to go to the hospital. She told him no but he could just meet her at the house at 8:30. Mommy wanted to go home and change because her clothes were wet. She didn't think it would be a big deal because we only lived 5 minutes away and she wasn't in any pain...yet. Mommy also thought she was going to be in labor a long time because this was her first pregnancy. Anyway, she's driving home and get the most excruciating pain. She wanted to pull over but knew that would prolong the trip. Mommy had two contractions just on the ride home. Remember...we only lived 5 minutes away. She get's home start to change her clothes and the contractions were coming back to back. Mommy got scared and called Daddy to tell him to get there NOW! A few minutes later he gets home. They get our stuff and get in the car. Daddy's speeding to the hospital because Mommy was in a lot of pain.
9:00pm
Mommy and Daddy arrive at the hospital and go up to labor and delivery. Dr. Rahe walks up as she is checking in and see's that she's in lots of pain. They take her name but tell the doctor that it's been so busy they don't even have a bed to check her in. The nurse takes her back to the bathroom so that she can swab her for amniotic fluid. The nurse confirmed that indeed Mommy's water had broken. They immdiately get her back to a room (It's a good thing because I was getting restless and wanted to meet my Mommy and Daddy). Mommy's doctor left to go to emergency. His son was there for an emergency appendectomy. The nurse didn't want to check Mommy because she said her doctor was really picky about his patients. That made Mommy angry because she couldn't get any pain medicine without being checked. Nurse Donna helped Mommy breath but that wasn't working. Mommy told her she needed to check her and the doctor could talk to her about it later. Nurse Donna did what Mommy said and checked her. Mommy was already 7cm dilated!!! She ran out and called Dr. Rahe. He was in the room in a matter of minutes. He then checked her. I guess he didn't believe Nurse Donna. He called in the anesthsiologist. He arrive a few minutes later. He gave her the epidural. It was hard though because Mommy kept having contractions and they wanted her to be still. After a few minutes she started to get a little relief. It numbed her belly area but didn't numb down below. The Dr. Rahe checked Mommy again and she was complete and ready to push. She pushed aobut 5 times and out I came! I was born at 10:34pm. Poppa Tree Top said I was going to be a little firecracker so I wanted to hold him to his word. lol.
Dr. Rahe already told Mommy that she'll probably be induced early if she decides to give me a brother or sister for fear that the baby will come too fast and she won't make it to the hospital. He said he'd never had a first time mom have that fast of labor. He also told her that her contractions we so intense because she went straight into the transition phase of labor and they didn't have time to build up.
